Treat Yourself this Valentine’s Day

As the Valentine’s Day approaches, all of you start thinking about the very special people that you have in your life and what gifts you might expect from them. However, what you give to yourself on Valentine’s Day is also very important.

Most of the time, you can find men and women spending money, time and energy for others as they want to please them. Gifts are given to family members, friends, colleagues, churches or some other causes—but they spend very little time doing something for themselves. They simply don’t have the time to do so. At the same time, the present scenario of fast-paced life leaves whatever little we can think possible. At the end of the day, we all know it is important to take a little time out of the day for oneself.

If you are healthy in both body and mind, you can do better for others. It becomes imperative to take care of yourself. You will notice a change around you when you begin taking time to do things you enjoy. Your physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual health would improve, vitalizing you with more energy. This in turn will give you power to execute your duties, or relations with better efficiency and potential. You will be able to create a positive aura around you.

Here are a few gifts to consider giving yourself this Valentine’s Day:

1. Commit to self care: It’s better if you build a routine for yourself. Give yourself a reminder about this to start—put up a sticker or a post-it on your pin-up board. Keep it short to start—10 minutes a day. A stroll around the park, a hot bath, read a book or treat yourself to a yummy dessert. Keep it simple and try to devote some time to yourself.

2. Plan your yeses: While prioritizing your goals or tasks in life, try to avoid simple obligations that you feel may end up as burdens. Try to say no to some of them in the beginning and perhaps you can sort out the whole thing later on. Don’t feel let down by others. Just take things as they come.

3. Make a small change in your life that will give you long term results: If shedding a few pounds is your goal, maybe start a 10 minute exercise routine daily or take a stroll with a friend after dinner a few times a week. Or perhaps mending your eating habits would do it.

4. Enjoy "Me" time: Book a massage, manicure or pedicure, facial or whatever relaxes you. This will truly rejuvenate you and render you afresh.

5. Splurge on a gadget: There is no better time to buy a smartphone that you have wanted for a while. If a hand-held gadget has caught your attention, buy it now and pamper yourself. Give yourself a nice gift this Valentines and put aside all the worries and tensions of the world for a little bit.
